Eli kuten allaolevasta näkyy, ollaan palaamassa remontin jäljiltä ruotuun.

Barnsley v Stoke City

Barnsley will be without defender Antony Kay, as he serves a one-match ban for the red card he received at Norwich City.

Recent signing Colin Healy will likely have to settle for a place on the substitutes' bench after improving his match fitness.

Tykes boss Andy Ritchie, however, will be without Daniel Nardiello (shoulder) and defender Neil Austin (ankle).

Potters boss Tony Pulis is unlikely to hand new signing Ricardo Fuller a debut at Oakwell following his move from Southampton.

It means that Vincent Pericard and Mamady Sidibe look set to continue in Stoke's attack.

Kevin Harper, Sammy Bangoura, John Eustace and Adam Rooney are all striving to be fit for the trip to South Yorkshire.
------------------------

Birmingham City v Hull City

Blues goalkeeper Maik Taylor is back in contention after the Northern Ireland international overcame a hip injury.

He is expected to replace Colin Doyle after coming off the substitutes' bench in his country's shock win over Spain on Wednesday evening.

Blues boss Steve Bruce has no fresh injury or suspension concerns, with Matthew Upson the only long-term absentee with an Achilles tendon rupture sustained back in April.

Tigers captain Ian Ashbee is in line to make his first appearance for over a year after being diagnosed with a bone defect in his thigh.

Phil Parkinson's strugglers are further boosted by the recent additions of strikers Michael Bridges and Nicky Forster, while centre back Danny Coles is edging towards full fitness after damaging his cruciate knee ligament 11 months ago.

-----------------------

Burnley v Colchester United

Clarets captain Wayne Thomas returns after serving one-match ban in the club's creditable 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

John McGreal replaced Thomas for the match with The Eagles, but he is unlikely to face The U's after suffering a back problem.

Goalkeeper Danny Coyne is unlikely to feature, as he continues his rehabilitation from a serious knee problem.

Colchester will have midfielder Johnnie Jackson back after he missed the last three games with an ankle problem.

Recent signing Kevin McLeod is in line for his debut with the Essex outfit, while left back George Elokobi is set to return after a three-match ban.

Striker Marino Keith remains manager Geraint Williams's only long-term absentee with an ankle problem.
---------------------------

Coventry City v Norwich City

The Sky Blues will have to do without new signing Leon McKenzie, as he is prevented from facing the club he left before the summer transfer window closed.

Fellow recent addition Kevin Kyle is also struggling to be fit after the Scotland international picked up a thigh strain.

However, Coventry boss Micky Adams does have David McNamee (hamstring) and Jay Tabb (hernia) available to face The Canaries.

Norwich boss Nigel Worthington is unlikely to hand new loan signing Lee Camp a start, with Paul Gallacher expected to keep his place in the line-up.

Camp arrived at Carrow Road as cover for the injured Joe Lewis, who is set for a month on the sidelines after fracturing his cheekbone.

Matthieu Louis-Jean will again be absent after bruising his toe, while Peter Thorne remains sidelined with a groin problem and Rossi Jarvis is still short of full fitness.

---------------------------

Derby County v Sunderland

New signing Bob Malcolm is poised to make his debut for The Rams after the Scot moved south following his release from Old Firm giants Rangers.

Manager Billy Davies is also boosted by the return of goalkeeper Stephen Bywater from a groin injury.

Derby captain Matt Oakley has recovered from groin and thigh problems, while centre back Darren Moore (hamstring) and Richard Jackson (calf) are also in contention again.

New Sunderland boss Roy Keane will have several of his new signings available for the trip to Pride Park, but striker Dwight Yorke will not be one of them.

Ben Alnwick is also available for The Black Cats, despite his withdrawal from the England Under-21 squad in midweek.

Clive Clarke has recovered from a groin injury, but midfielder Arnau Riera has another two games to serve on his suspension.

----------------
Ipswich Town v Southampton

Town boss Jim Magilton looks set to hand debuts to six of his new signings in Sylvain Legwinski, Jon Macken, Alex Bruce, Dan Harding, Mark Noble and Simon Walton.

Defender Fabian Wilnis is a doubt for Saturday's contest with a thigh strain, but strikers Billy Clarke and Dean Bowditch should return after overcoming slight knocks.

Southampton striker Bradley Wright-Phillips is expected to shake off a minor ankle knock for the trip to Portman Road.

New signing Inigo Idiakez is set to make his debut for the South Coast club, as manager George Burley has a long casualty list.

Djamel Belmadi (calf), Claus Lundekvam, David Prutton (both ankle), Mario Licka (foot), Michael Svensson (hamstring) and Darren Powell (knee) are all missing, but goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski may be back in contention after knee surgery.

-------------------

Luton Town v Crystal Palace

Chris Coyne could return to face the Eagles after the 1-0 defeat to Wolves with a recurrence of a knee injury.

Fellow centre back Russell Perrett, however, will miss the clash with Palace with a knee injury, but striker Sam Parkin is set to make his home debut for Mike Newell's side.

New signing Shefki Kuqi is poised to make his debut for Palace at Kenilworth Road after move from Blackburn Rovers.

James Scowcroft is vying with Clinton Morrison and Dougie Freedman for a starting place alongside Kuqi, while another new signing in Stuart Green could also feature for Peter Taylor's men.

-----------------------------
Plymouth Argyle v Queens Park Rangers

Plymouth boss Ian Holloway will have new signings Marcel Seip and Cherno Samba available to face former club QPR.

The Pilgrims are also boosted by the return of utility man Tony Capaldi from Northern Ireland duty, while Lilian Nalis returns from injury.

The R's may have midfielders Martin Rowlands and Gareth Ainsworth available for the trip to Devon.

Striker Marc Nygaard is unlikely to be fit enough to feature at Home Park after persistent back and hamstring problems.

Long-term injury victims Simon Royce (groin) and Dominic Shimmin (hamstring) are also likely to miss Saturday's contest.
----------------------------

Preston North End v Cardiff City

Preston boss Paul Simpson will be without Brett Ormerod (broken leg), Adam Nowland (broken leg) and Andy Smith (knee) for the clash with the Championship leaders.

Midfielder Brian O'Neil (knee) may come into contention to face The Bluebirds, but Simpson is without long-term absentees Callum Davidson and Youl Mawene (both knee).

Cardiff captain Darren Purse serves the last game of a three-match ban at Deepdale, while Wales international Joe Ledley and Paul Parry are struggling to shake off ankle and toe problems respectively.

Centre back Roger Johnson will continue to deputise for Purse, while Kevin Cooper and Willo Flood are on stand-by to replace Ledley and Parry in Dave Jones's side.

------------------------

Southend United v Sheffield Wednesday

Efe Sodje is pushing for a recall with The Shrimpers after the centre back recovered from a broken leg.

Manager Steve Tilson must choose between Sodje, fit-again Spencer Prior (ankle) and summer signing Peter Clarke to partner Adam Barrett in his back-line.

Strikers Lee Bradbury (hip) and Michael Ricketts (Achilles) are absent, but new signing Matt Harrold will be hoping for a debut.

Owls duo Marcus Tudgay and Steve Adams are ready to make their first appearances of the season at Roots Hall after overcoming injury problems.

Manager Paul Sturrock is also hoping summer signing Wade Small (hamstring) will be available, while goalkeeper Brad Jones is clear to play after having his red card against Leeds United Leeds rescinded.
---------------------------------

West Bromwich Albion v Leicester City

Baggies boss Bryan Robson is hoping midfielder Nigel Quashie will be fit to play after picking up a dead leg playing for Scotland.

Centre back Curtis Davies will miss out after suffering a broken metatarsal in his foot, with Paul McShane set to deputise in the West Brom back-line.

Nathan Ellington (hamstring) is expected to be fit, while striker Diomansy Kamara is back training following his recovery from a similar broken foot injury, but he is unlikely to face The Foxes.

Leicester manager Rob Kelly has the luxury of picking from a full squad for the short trip to the Black Country.

Danny Tiatto and Rab Douglas are back in training after spells on the sidelines, while internationals Patrick Kisnorbo (Australia) and Gareth McAuley (Northern Ireland) were unused substitutes for their respective countries in midweek.

Striker Iain Hume was only used for the final five minutes of Canada's 1-0 win over Jamaica.
-----------------

Leeds United v Wolves

Leeds midfielder Kevin Nicholls could make a surprise return to action against Wolves on Sunday after making a quick recovery from knee ligament damage.

New signing Jonathan Douglas is expected to replace the injured Shaun Derry, who is recovering from a hernia operation.

Whites boss Kevin Blackwell is still without Steve Stone (hernia), while striker Geoff Horsfield sits out the last match of his suspension.

Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray is expected to have recovered from knee problems in time to play at Elland Road.

Kevin O'Connor is also in contention after bouncing back from a combination of groin and hamstring problems, while striker Jay Bothroyd has recovered from a calf niggle.

Brazilian Guilherme Finkler is set to miss out with a groin injury, while Jackie McNamara (hip), Lewis Gobern (groin) and Gabor Gyepes (knee) are also on the sidelines.

Atalanta – Ascoli

Newly-promoted Atalanta play host to Ascoli after bouncing straight back from their 2005 relegation. Although only the first week of the season both teams will be eager to get a good start and pick up an early win over their potential relegation rivals.

The Bianconeri will be hoping that their new look side will gel quickly when they travel to Bergamo. A number of fresh faces are expected to feature for Ascoli after Coach Attilio Tesser brought in a host of new faces over the summer.

Two potential debutants who are unlikely to feature though are defender Marco Pecorari and veteran forward Marco Delvecchio, both of whom are struggling to reach full fitness after joining late in the club’s pre-season schedule.

Atalanta have a similar story with Christian Vieri still unfit following his knee surgery and Nelson Abeijon short of match practice both unlikely to play a part. To further aggravate Coach Stefano Colantuono’s headache, captain Antonino Bernardini plus Gianpaolo Bellini and Simone Loria are also still suffering from the injuries they picked up in pre-season.

Ascoli defender Paolo Foglio will feel right at home in the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia after being raised near Bergamo and spending a total four seasons with the Nerazzurri, spread out between 1996 and 2003. New Bianconeri signings Gianluca Pagliuca and Valentin Nastase will both also be familiar with Atalanta after facing them in Serie B with Bologna last term.

The Orobici will be especially keen to begin their season on a high after becoming notoriously slow starters. In their last Serie A campaign they never managed to recover after taking until Week 17 to record their first victory. Even in last year’s promotion winning season they were defeated 3-0 by Piacenza in their opening game.

Man on fire: Riccardo Zampagna (Atalanta) – The big target man was on top form as Atalanta earned promotion last season and has been hitting the net on a regular basis again in pre-season, including a hat-trick in the 12 goal thrashing of Presolana.

Last season: Atalanta in Serie B, Ascoli in Serie A

Serie A newcomers Catania will make their top-flight debut in Sardinia as they travel to Cagliari. The Elefantini will be hoping to claim their first scalp but could find things hard at the notoriously hostile fortress Sant’Elia.

But home advantage isn’t the only thing the Rossoblu have going for them. New Coach Marco Giampaolo is regarded as one of Italy’s most promising tacticians after working miracles with Ascoli last season. The Cagliari fans have high hopes that the 39-year-old can bring back the form they showed in 2004-05.

They will be without star player Antonio Langella for this tie though. The Azzurri international is still out with an injury he picked up during pre-season, as are new signings Gabriel Pernalba and Giacomo Garau.

But Catania are missing players of their own. Fabio Caserta is still serving a suspension he incurred last term while Maurizio Anastasi is injured and new arrivals Davide Biondini, Cesar and Juan Vargas are all unlikely to feature after joining the club so late in their preparations.

Yet despite those absences the Sicilian new boys’ ambition is clear for all to see. With Coach Pasquale Marino expected to field an attacking 4-3-3 formation they are unlikely to pull any punches so early in the season.

Much will rely on the ability of the Elefantini’s attacking trident and their ability to break down defences at this level. Of the likely starting trio only Gionatha Spinesi has played in Serie A before now and he managed just nine goals during his three years with Bari.

Sardinian summer signing Paolo Bianco couldn’t have asked for a more emotional debut as he is expected to appear for his new side against the team he helped to promotion last season. The defender will no doubt be eager to remind the Catania fans why he was so thought of so highly during his two years with the club.

Man on fire: Mauro Esposito (Cagliari) – The talented winger was a revelation in 2004-05 before going off the boil, but an Azzurri recall under new boss Roberto Donadoni could well give him the confidence boost to return to his best.

Last season: Cagliari in Serie A, Catania in Serie B

Chievo - Siena
Stadio Bentegodi

Both Chievo and Siena’s main priority this season is survival and the two sides will view three points in this Stadio Bentegodi clash as an encouraging first step.

The Flying Donkeys have a reputation for overachievement and they surprised everyone again last term by finishing seventh. However, the Clivensi have lost key striker Amauri and veteran goalkeeper Alberto Fontana and have already fallen at the first hurdle in the Champions League. Now Beppe Pillon’s side must try and put that defeat against Levski Sofia to the back of their minds and focus on the more important business of Serie A football.

It was mission accomplished for Siena last term as they secured a fourth season in the top flight with fingernails intact. New Coach Mario Beretta arrives charged with the task of repeating that achievement and he won’t be short of motivation. Beretta was harshly sacked by Chievo with three games remaining in the 2004-05 season and survival in the balance – he will be keen to prove a point.

The Gialloblu will be looking to repeat their thumping 4-1 victory over Siena at the Bentegodi in March. Coach Pillon will have to manage without highly-rated striker Victor Obinna who is banned for at least four months due to his illegal transfer to the Veronese club. Denis Godeas who arrived from Palermo in exchange for Amauri is likely to partner last season’s 13-goal hero Sergio Pellissier. Salvatore Lanna starts the season suspended so youngster Giovanni Marchese may start at left-back after a summer move from Catania. Lorenzo D’Anna and Matteo Brighi have shaken off knocks and should start.

Beretta receives a blow as the injury-prone Tomas Locatelli is again in the wars and is expected to be out of action for a fortnight with a right knee injury. Francesco Cozza is a doubt and defender Paolo Negro will miss out due to a back problem. New signing Vincent Candela is due to start on the left of midfield while fellow summer additions Abdoulay Konko and Mario Frick may settle for seats on the bench.

Man on fire: Andrea Zanchetta (Chievo) – Versatile midfielder was often overlooked last term but impressed in both legs of the Clivensi’s Champions League clash against Levski Sofia with his incisive passing and willingness to shoot.

Last season: Chievo 4-1 Siena

Chievo (probable): Sicignano; Moro, Mandelli, Scurto, Marchese; Semioli, Sammarco, Giunti, Zanchetta; Godeas, Pellissier

Fiorentina - Inter

With Juventus banished to Serie B, this Stadio Artemio Franchi fixture looks set to be an especially heated battle as Fiorentina and Inter both try to stamp their authority at the start of the new campaign.

Fiorentina were the surprise package of last season. Despite setting survival as their pre-season target, the Gigliati finished fourth. However, the Calciopoli verdict turned joy to misery and has left the Viola with a 19-point handicap and everything to do if they are to haul themselves into the running for a UEFA Cup spot.

The Viola must get off to a quick start and so must their star striker – last season’s Capocannoniere Luca Toni. Having declared his intention to sign for Inter in the summer, Toni must now win over the Artemio Franchi faithful once more and this is the perfect opportunity.

Inter couldn’t have enjoyed a better pre-season. Following the Calciopoli verdict, the Nerazzurri were awarded last season’s Scudetto and have set about building a side that are clear favourites to retain that title. However, with the favourites tag comes a level of expectation that Italy’s underachievers are unaccustomed to.

Roberto Mancini – who came close to the sack towards the end of last term – knows that second-place is not an option and will be desperate for a winning start to maintain their eight point advantage over their city rivals and stop the pressure from building. Sadly, the club is also mourning the passing of President and Nerazzurri legend Giacinto Facchetti.

Viola Coach Cesare Prandelli has no injury worries. He may opt for a new-look midfield of Fabio Liverani, Massimo Gobbi and Manuele Blasi – all summer signings. Adrian Mutu is expected to start after an impressive pre-season and is likely to play alongside Luca Toni and Mario Santana. Goalkeeper Sebastien Frey returns after spending the second half of last season injured.

Mancini has the whole of his revamped squad to choose from. Hernan Crespo may start as a lone striker, allowing new signings Patrick Vieira and Mariano Gonzalez to play in a five-man midfield. Fabio Grosso is set to start but the other new men Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Maicon and Olivier Dacourt look likely to have to settle for seats on the bench. Adriano and World Cup hero Marco Materazzi are also unlikely to start.

Man on fire: Luis Figo (Inter) – The Portuguese wizard shone at the end of last season and was superb in the Nerazzurri’s Italian Super Cup triumph where he set up Vieira for Inter’s first and grabbed the winner with a stunning free-kick.

Last season: Fiorentina 2-1 Inter

Fiorentina (probable): Frey; Ujfalusi, Gamberini, Kroldrup, Pasqual; Blasi, Liverani, Gobbi; Santana, Toni, Mutu
7.9 Giampaolo Pazzini F
7.9 Alessandro Potenza D 9.9 ?
7.9 Mario Santana M
Inter (probable): Toldo; Zanetti, Cordoba, Samuel, Grosso; Gonzalez, Vieira, Figo, Cambiasso, Stankovic; Crespo
7.9 Francesco Toldo G 9.9 ?

Milan - Lazio

Milan get their Scudetto challenge off to a difficult start against Lazio, one of the other clubs embroiled in Calciopoli. Both must begin to wipe out their deficits, which is eight points for the Rossoneri and 11 for the visitors.

Boosted by their performances in the Champions League preliminary round, Carlo Ancelotti’s men will be confident of picking up all three points in this season opener. Although Alessandro Nesta and Paolo Maldini are still not 100 per cent fit and Massimo Ambrosini is ruled out with a thigh problem, they hope to capitalise on Pippo Inzaghi’s fine vein of form. Alberto Gilardino is expected to be his partner with support from Kaka. New signing Ricardo Oliveira still needs time to settle in to his new surroundings.

It’ll be an interesting game for Massimo Oddo, who practically begged for a move to Milan throughout the summer only to see his £8m price-tag prove too big a stumbling block. Pasquale Foggia also believed he’d be wearing the Rossoneri jersey this term, but was loaned out to Lazio instead following a spell at Ascoli.

Lazio hope to build on last season’s solid showing, which would’ve put them in the UEFA Cup had it not been for the scandal. Delio Rossi sticks with his favoured 4-4-2 system with new arrivals Cristian Ledesma and Foggia the only real changes. Goran Pandev and recent Italian international Tommaso Rocchi form a dynamic partnership upfront that has impressed in pre-season.

Stefano Mauri and Massimo Mutarelli appear to have shaken off their injury concerns, but Valon Behrami is out following groin surgery.

Man on fire: Pippo Inzaghi (Milan) – three goals in two games against Red Star Belgrade and another for Italy to earn a point with Lithuania. Andriy Shevchenko may have left, but that only gives Super Pippo free rein upfront.

Last season: Milan 2-0 Lazio

Milan (probable): Dida; Cafu, Costacurta, Maldini, Kaladze; Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf; Kaka; Gilardino, Inzaghi
8.9 Kakha Kaladze D 10.9 ?

Messina - Udinese

Messina’s fans should be out in force to celebrate an unexpected return to the top flight, but Udinese will test their mettle after that Calciopoli reprieve.

The Sicilians bowed out of Serie A at the end of last season following a very disappointing campaign, particularly on home turf with just four wins, nine draws and six defeats. The demotion of Juventus saw them given another shot and new Coach Bruno Giordano makes his top flight debut after just three years coaching in Serie C1. A former Lazio legend, the 50-year-old uses a 4-4-2 system, hoping to take advantage of left-back Alessandro Parisi’s return to fitness following an injury nightmare and ex-Roma winger Edgar Alvarez’s crossing prowess.

Christian Riganò should partner Arturo Di Napoli, especially as Ivica Iliev and defender Enrico Morello are suspended. Former Juventus veteran Mark Iuliano brings some much-needed experience to the side, although he might not be fit enough to start this weekend.

Udinese’s campaign was fraught with controversy and coaching changes, but rediscovered their form in the final weeks with Giovanni Galeone at the helm. He has been confirmed on the bench and hopes to further hone the 4-3-3 tactic around World Cup winner Vincenzo Iaquinta.

What hasn’t changed is the succession of injuries hitting the Friuli side. Antonio Di Natale, Paulo Barreto, Gaetano D’Agostino and Marco Motta all join the suspended Sulley Ali Muntari on the sidelines, so new arrivals Eremenko and Gyan Asamoah – the latter spotted shining for Ghana in the World Cup this summer – are expected to start. Christian Obodo of Nigeria takes the central midfield role.

Man on fire: Gyan Asamoah (Udinese) – you probably saw the young Ghanaian demolish the Czech Republic almost single-handed in the World Cup and, after an impressive stint in Serie B with Modena, he’s eager to make his mark in the top flight.

Last season: Messina 1-1 Udinese

Messina (probable): Storari; Zoro, Zanchi, Iuliano, Parisi; Alvarez, Coppola, Cordova, Masiello; Riganò, Di Napoli
8.9 Salvatore Masiello M 10.9 ?

Palermo – Reggina

Francesco Guidolin will take charge of Palermo in a competitive fixture for the first time since his departure in the summer of 2005 when the Rosanero host Reggina in this Week 1 encounter.

History suggests it should be the Sicilians who take all three points as they have not lost on the opening day since a 5-3 tumble against Empoli at the start of the 2001-02 Serie B campaign. Meanwhile, Reggina haven’t won on the opening day since they upset Inter back in 2000-01.

The match will be the first step on a long and seemingly impossible journey for Reggina as they attempt to overturn a 15-point deduction and salvage their Serie A status. There is likely to be a debut for new defensive signing Salvatore Aronica – who switched from Messina to help shore up the Amaranto defence, which leaked more than any other Serie A side last term.

Palermo should be giving first League starts to new midfield trio Mark Bresciano, Fabio Simplicio and Aimo Diana as well as new striker Amauri. Defender Cesare Bovo will have to wait for his first run out in the pink and black as his broken foot is likely to keep him out for some time yet.

Palermo ran out 1-0 winners in the corresponding fixture last season with a strike from defender Christian Terlizzi. This season the goals will be expected to come from Amauri – who netted a brace for Chievo in his last meeting with Reggina. Walter Mazzarri will likely test Rolando Bianchi upfront alongside Nicola Amoruso, finding an alternative source of goals to Alex Del Piero’s brother-in-law will be crucial if the southern side are to make a real fight of avoiding the drop.

Man on fire: Mark Bresciano (Palermo) – After a scintillating season with Parma and four appearances for Australia at the World Cup Bresciano’s profile has never been higher. He will now be keen to get off to a great start at his new club.

Last season: Palermo 1-0 Reggina

Palermo (probable): Agliardi; Pisano, Barzagli, Biava, Zaccardo; Bresciano, Simplicio, Corini, Diana; Amauri, Di Michele

Roma – Livorno
Stadio Olimpico

Roma kick-off their new campaign at home to Livorno with realistic dreams of lifting a fourth Scudetto. With Juventus out of the picture and Milan burdened by a points deduction, the Giallorossi must be the clear favourites to challenge Inter.

If they are to do that they must avoid an opening day upset like the one they suffered at the hands of Udinese in their first home game of 2005-06. Meanwhile, Livorno haven’t been beaten on the opening day since they returned to Serie A in 2004.

Roma are unbeaten in their last 11 Serie A home matches, and haven’t lost a League game at the Olimpico this calendar year. The Tuscans are 10 without a win on the road, not leaving anywhere with three points since their first game of 2006 against Sampdoria back in January.

The match will see a quick reunion with old friends for new Livorno defender Samuel Kuffour, the Ghanaian leaving Rome on deadline day. There is also likely to be a debut for Antonio Filippini while Roma should give debuts to Chilean midfielder David Pizarro and defender Marco Cassetti, while new striker Mirko Vucinic, captured from Lecce, and defender Gilberto Martinez, an arrival from Brescia, look likely to have to wait for their bow.

It was a brace from Francesco Totti and a strike from Rodrigo Taddei which settled the corresponding fixture last season, with the capital club in the middle of their record winning streak. It was also 3-0 the season before and in the four meetings since Livorno returned to the top-flight they have picked up just one point and no goals.

Man on fire: Simone Perrotta (Roma) – One of the unsung heroes of Italy’s World Cup triumph. A first team shirt in Roma’s midfield will be a valuable possession this season so the English-born midfielder will have to get off to a flyer if he is to retain his for the course of the campaign.

Last season: Roma 3-0 Livorno

Roma (probable): Doni; Panucci, Chivu, Mexes, Cassetti; Taddei, Pizarro, Perrotta, De Rossi, Mancini; Totti
7.9 Cristian Chivu D 9.9 -
7.9 Gilberto Martinez D
7.9 Mirko Vucinic F

Sampdoria – Empoli

It’s not the toughest of starts for Sampdoria who will entertain Empoli at Marassi in the first match of the season.

Doria have definitely reinforced their squad this summer and will probably begin on the right foot. Coach Walter Novellino, who finally decided to stay despite receiving a luxurious offer from Juventus, looks happy with the team’s status.

The Blucerchiati can count on Angelo Palombo, Giulio Falcone, Gennaro Delvecchio and Cristian Zenoni who have been recently selected for the Italian national team by Roberto Donadoni. The fans will definitely not miss Christian Vieri who appeared to be joining Samp in August, but then he changed his mind at the last minute.

The sale of Francesco Tavano, who joined Valencia for £7m, is a definite loss for Empoli. Coach Gigi Cagni and the supporters are putting all their faith in Ighli Vannucchi, but we will have to see if the 29-year-old Trequartista will be able to keep up with them. Also, the Argentine midfielder Sergio Almiron should do well in his second season at Empoli.

Due to the serious injury of Christian Terlizzi, Novellino looks set on lining-up midfielder Palombo as a central defender next to the veteran Falcone. Luigi Sala could also be an alternative. Uruguayan Ruben Oliveira, who moved to Genoa from Juventus, and Massimo Bonanni, from Palermo, should start on the wings. The attacking duo will be Francesco Flachi and Emiliano Bonazzoli.

Cagni will probably confirm the team he used in his last pre-season friendly with the exception of defender Lino Marzoratti who could be substituted by newly signed Daniele Adani.

Man on fire: Flachi (Sampdoria) – The years never seem to pass for the Florence-born striker. This season, once again, he will be starting as a first choice attacker. Flachi looked on form in pre-season so it will be no surprise if he will greet the fans with a goal on Sunday.

Last season: Sampdoria 2-0 Empoli

Sampdoria (probable): Castellazzi; C.Zenoni, Palombo, Falcone, Pieri; Oliveira, Delvecchio, Volpi, Bonanni; Bonazzoli, Flachi

Torino - Parma

On their return to Serie A following promotion, Torino are facing Parma in a clash that is highly unpredictable.

The Granata of Gianni De Biasi have preformed badly in some of their latter pre-season friendly matches and will not be able to count on their last-minute arrivals Stefano Fiore and Cedric Konan.

There have also been a few whispers about a conflict between De Biasi and President Urbano Cairo, apparently over the signing of Masashi Oguro. The Coach is understood to have been unhappy with his last minute capture as he preferred a more experienced striker.

Parma have changed greatly this summer but the team, which is aiming to survive, looks promising. Boss Stefano Pioli has been working hard with the young players and Toro will provide an important test. However, the defence looks weak after the sale of Daniele Bonera to Milan, but wingers Andrea Gasbarroni and Vitaliy Kutuzov could make an impact.

Torino, who will also be making their debut at the Stadio Olimpico/Grande Torino, have some selection problems. Coach De Biasi still hasn’t decided who will start at right-back with the experienced Giuseppe Pancaro or ex-captain Gianluca Comotto in contention. Diego De Ascentis should find a place in midfield, but Andrea Ardito could be a surprise choice. Roberto Muzzi and Roberto Stellone are fighting to partner Elvis Abbruscato in attack.

For the Crociati, the starting line-up seems decided even if Fernando Couto could start the match instead of Giuseppe Cardone. The young Maurizio Ciaramitaro will probably be preferred to Jorge Bolano.

Man on fire: Rosina (Torino) – The talented left winger has definitely convinced De Biasi and the fans of his quality. The Under-21 international will probably take control of Torino’s offensive plays and will also be a free-kick taker.

Last season: Torino in Serie B, Parma in Serie A

Torino (probable): Abbiati; Pancaro, Franceschini, Cioffi, Balestri; Lazetic, De Ascentis, Barone, Rosina; Abbruscato, Muzzi
