Team news:

Monaco: The principality club seemed to have slackened the pace in 2004, but a comfortable 2-0 win away to Metz on the weekend was enough to restore their seven-point lead in the table. Monaco have to do without the inspirational Ludovic Giuly, but Jaroslav Plasil has proved to be a valuable deputy in his absence. The Czech midfielder netted the opener in the Metz game. Didier Deschamps could choose to rest several players for this French Cup game. Youngsters Ablancourt and Hislen, as well as Argentine veteran Hugo Ibarra, are set to start the match.(Coach Deschamps answer to all this question is a mixed squad composed of first and second team players. The players that will be rested are Zikos, Squillaci(5)and Evra (Giuly (11 maalia) is injured). The first eleven are not known right now, but I believe that at least 5 second squad and bench players will be amongst them

Lyon: The reigning champions were stunned by Guingamp last Saturday (1-0 home defeat). That result has put a huge dent in Lyon's domestic ambitions, but players such as Elber are still convinced that they can retain their title. The Brazilian has just recovered from his thigh injury and could return to the starting line-up.(Lyon suffered a defeat on Saturday against Guingampes. They didn't play bad but should have been more efficient in front the goal. This defeat was a big blow to their Championship hopes and to their morale. However, everything is not lost and there is still much way to go. The psychological factor is very important right now and a great way to regain a winning spirit is a win against the main Championship challengers. That is why their coach will field the best players available. Juninho and Elber are back in the team after injuries.)

Probable line-ups:

Monaco: Roma - Givet, J.Rodriguez, Ablancourt, Ibarra - Plasil, Hislen, Bernardi, Rothen - Prso, Morientes

Lyon: Coupet - Réveillère, Müller, Edmilson, Berthod - Essien, Dhorasoo, Juninho, Govou - Luyindula, Elber
