A little odds-alert before the weekend. As you probably know, Rosenborg has had a terrible start of the league and in fact it's their worst in 13 years. Before last weekend's win over Odd, they had played 5 games (3 draws and 2 losses) without winning, They hit the bottom when losing 4-1 for Tromso, but in the 2 games after that (2-0 loss for Molde and 2-2 against Vaalerenga) they showed improvement play-wise, and their attack got gradually better.

Because of this, last Rosenborg game was a no-bet for me although I was pretty sure they would win confidently, which they did. Odd was 2nd in the league before that game, and Rosenborg won 2-0 in a game where Odd never really stood a chance. Rosenborg still aren't like the winning machine we know from previous seasons, but they are getting closer every week. That's why I think odds 1.70 at NordicBet is a very generous offer. I have checked BetBrain, and the highest recorded odds there is 1.65 (in fact it is Veikkaus), and so I wouldn't be surprised if 1.70 is the highest on the market. Expekt, who usually give tasty odds for Tippeligaen, have Rosenborg @ 1.50.

Sogndal have overall record 1-2-5 (5-6) so far, and have lost the last two games (Viking 2-0 at home and Lillestrom 1-0 way). They share the bottom of the league with Fredrikstad and they both have 5 points in 8 games. They should be easy meat for a Rosenborg team who have gotten back on track.

My advice is to take Rosenborg @ 1.70, as this probably is the best odds they will recieve for the rest of the season. I think NordicBet will slash this odd before too long, so I take it tonight.

Rosenborgin kausi on alkanut odotuksiin nähden heikommin mitä odoteltiin. erityisesti joukkueen puolustus on vuotanut pahasti, pahimpana nöyryytyksenä 4-1 tappio Tromsølle. Nyt vastassa on kuitenkin sarjan heikointa hyökkäyskalustoa. Toki Sogndal otti komean 3-1 kotivoiton Rosenborgin kovimpiin haastajiin kuuluvasta Brannista. Rosenborg on kuintenkin vielä monta pykälää kovempi yhdistelmä. Kun katsotaan Sogndalin viiden edellisen ottelun saldoa, niin joukkue on ampunut 6 maalia erinomainen suoritus tuolla materiaalilla! Lähemmin tarkasteltuna maalit ovat tulleet Brannia vastaan 3-1 kotivoitossa, jossa vierailija oli vähintään kaukana tasostaan. Sekä sarjan selvästi!! heikointa porukkaa Fredrikstadia vastaan 3-3 tasapelissä. 3 kertaa joukkue on jäänyt maaleitta. Oma näkemykseni on, että Songdalin surkea hyökkäys ei saa maaliakaan Rosenborgia vastaan. Rosenborg taas tuskin vieraissa mitään yltiöpäistä hyökkäyspeliä lähtee esittämään. Voitto on joukkueelle tärkeä sarjakärki Tromsø on 4 pisteen päässä. Johtoasemassa tuskin hirveitä riskejä otetaan, että vastustaja ei pääse iskemään vastaiskuilla.
Suurin riski on, jos Rosenborg saa aikaisin johtomaalin, silloin saattaa paukkua tylytkin lukemat tauluun. Oma arvio underille 45% ja Expektin 2.45 riittää mukavasti peliin.

Tromsø vs Vaalerenga

Pick. Tromso (-1/4). Medium stakes.

Tromso: 5-1-2 (16-8) overall and 4-0-0 (11-2) at home.
Vaalerenga: 3-5-0 (9-6) overall and 1-3-0 (5-4) away

Top of the table versus the only unbeaten team in the league. I've watched most of Vaalerenga's games on TV and though their football is not a pretty sight, they are a tough team to beat. On average they have scored a little over 1 goal per game and conceded 0.75. This has been sufficient to give them get 14 points in 8 games, which is nothing short of a small miracle (all of their wins have been 1-0 victories). Vaalerenga can not keep this up forever, and I see it as likely that their first loss of the season comes here. The pitiful performance they delivered in the last away game against Molde (a 1-1 draw) also points in this direction.
Tromso is (a bit surprisingly) in the lead. They are a bit shaky when travelling, but this is normal for Tromso, and they are first and foremost a home team. Many teams regard their away game against Tromso as the toughest away game of the season and rightly so. In fact, even mighty Rosenborg fears this game and Tromso have force-fed them large slices of humble pie on several occasions. Looking at history we see that the record for this particular meeting is 5-6-1 (19-12) in favour of Tromso and so, over the years, Vaalerenga have only won this game 1 time. Given history and what I've seen Tromso and Vaalerenga do so far this season, I rule out the chance of an away win almost completely. For me the question is home win or draw. Draw has occured frequently and it has indeed been the result of the last 3 meetings here. Still I feel Tromso has more to offer this time, and I'm willing to risk a medium stake on them. Tromso have a perfect home record so far. They have had an extremely tight defense at home, while the dynamic trio Gamst Pedersen, Aarst and Strand score goals-a-plenty, nearly 3 per home game in average. With Vaalerenga's scoring problems, they will have difficulties keeping up with Tromso and if Tromso manage to get the fire going, Vaalerenga are dead meat.

Now, given the risk for draw, some insurance is in order, and I play this as a (-1/4) handicap. In case you try

Jälkipeliä Rosenborgista, mutta lienee ihan hyödyllistäkin asiaa tuossa:

Rosenborg played like we're used to see them throughout first half, but after Sogndal reduced at 48 minutes, Rosenborg lost the initiative. The 2-2 goal was pure luck (a loose shot that changed direction) but that made Rosenborg collapse.

I am drawn towards the conclusion that it will be extremely hard making profit on Rosenborg this year. They have an elite squad of seasoned players, and when the machine is running (like in first half) they are unbeatable, but without warning these experienced players can be reduced to a bunch of slow old men. As an away team they are pretty fucking useless right now

They had the win in their pocket and gave it away. They are in enormous trouble, and I think we'll see the first hints of a manager change soon.

Katselin itsekin tuon matsin, enkä nyt ihan täysin yhdy kyllä paikallisen näkemykseen
Matsin alussa isännillä pari hyvää paikkaa tehdä johtomaali, ennenkuin Rosenborg käynnistyi. Rosenborg johti ekan jakson jälkeen 0-2, mutta johto oli pikeminkin liian lavea kuin leveä, ei Rosenborg mitenkään "jyrännyt". Toisen jakson alkuun 1-2 kavennus laittoi Rosenborgin todella ahtaalle seuraaviksi 20-25 minuutiksi, ja vaikka 2-2 oli osittain onnekas maali laukauksen muuttaessa suuntaa Rosenborgin pakista, oli se vähintään ansaittu tasoitus kuitenkin. 3-2 olikin sitten matsin hienoin maali, siinä Rosenborgin haparoivaa puolustusta vietiin oikein kunnolla
Tämän jälkeen Rosenborg nosti lisää miehiä hyökkäykseen, mikä vastaavasti avasi kontrauspaikkoja isännille. 3-3 tasoitus tuli kulmasta, kuten 0-1 maalikin, eli kaksi Rosenborgin kolmesta maalista tuli erikoistilanteista. 3-3 tasoituksen jälkeen Rosenborgilla vielä tolppalaukaus ja pusku niukasti yläkulmasta ohi.

Kyllä ottaa päähän tää ensin Rosenborg laukoo 2 maalia 18 minuutissa ja tuhoaa varmuudella mun under vedon. Sitten joukkue vielä menettää tuon 2 maalin johtonsa Sogndalin tasoiselle porukalle ja sinne haihtui alkuviikosta pelailtu 1.70 kerroin Rosenborgille. Ei vaan mahdu mun pääkoppaan että Sarjan ylivoimaisesti paras joukkue pystyi mokaamaan ton.

Edit: Zizou mites tuo Rosenborgin puolustuksen tilanne.? Mikä siinä mättää joukkueella pitäisi olla kyllä sarjan paras puolustuslinja, ja tietääkseni ketään tärkeää ei poissakaan ole, yhteispeli ei toimi vai mikä on??

Zizou: pistin tuon sun hieman eriävän näkemyksen (käänsin enkuksi) tälle norjalaiselle ja kysyin että mitä mieltä hän siitä oli Hän kommentoi seuraavasti: (huom. lisää hyvää tietoa Rosenborgista):

I stand by my words about the game. After a fresh start by the hosts, Rosenborg played with authority throughout 1st half, but what happened in 2nd half was that Sogndal were allowed to use speed to cut through Rosenborg's defense time after time after time (like they did in the beginning of 1st half). After that, Rosenborg's defense collapsed (I still think that's the best word for it). Insted of adjusting to these dangerous attacks, Rosenborg let Sogndal do it again and again. Collapse is the word I use, because at this stage, Rosenborg in defense relied more on the player's individual skills than on their organized play. We've seen the same pattern in several Rosenborg games this season. When the Rosenborg tactics doesn't work, it really doesn't work! The best strategy against Rosenborg, as Vaalerenga demonstrated in a beautiful way a few weeks ago, is to keep Rosenborg on their toes, not giving them time to fall into their "winning machine" mode. Sogndal managed this in large part of today's game. Kudos to them for managing that and their point was fully deserved.

And yes, Rosenborg had posts and headings over the bar. The old Brattbakk would have scored on one of the close-to100%-chances he had today, but today he couldn't hit the floor with his hat, even if he got three tries to do it. When the defense slips up and the attackers are less than effective, immediate problems arise.

I think the major problem is that Rosenborg have been sleeping while the other teams in Tippeligaen have grown steadily stronger. Many impressive imported players in Tippeligaen this year (Sogndal's Robbie Russell is one of them) and they have made impact. Rosenborg's squad is, plain and simple, growing old. Well, well, enough about that game and enough about Rosenborg.

Mitä itse Rosenborgiin tulee, niin itse odotan koko ajan vaan sitä, että kertoimet "Norjan mestari on Rosenborg" nousevat riittävälle tasolle - koska ei siellä toistakaan potentiaalista mestariehdokasta kuitenkaan ole.
Tromsö johtaa nyt sarjaa, mutta johtaakseen loppuun asti se on aivan liian
kotiriippuvainen ja sille on jo nyt kertynyt ihan liikaa ansaitsemattomia pisteitä.
Samat sanat koskee Branniakin siinä mielessä, että on liian kotiriippuvainen, lisäksi miehistö on liian kapea, kuten myös Tromsölla - pari loukkaantumista avainmiehille ja se on sitten siinä - toisin kuin Rosenborgilla, jolla on ~jokaiselle paikalle kuitenkin pätevä / samantasoinen tuuraaja.
VIF on liikaa erikoistilanteidensa varassa, kun ajatellaan maalintekoa, ne puolustaa kyllä kiitettävällä tarmolla. Molde tuntuu olevan TAAS kerran kupla, Oddista ei vielä ota selvää - siksi tänään tuleva Odd-Molde on oikein hyvä katsoa, kaksi "hieman epäselvää" porukkaa pelaa vastakkain, saa molemmista lisää näkemystä
