Bolton report no new injury worries following the return of several first-team players from a fortnight's international duty. Defender Simon Charlton has recovered from the knee injury which forced him to miss last two games, while winger Ricardo Gardner is also available having shrugged off a hamstring problem. Paul Warhurst and Gareth Farrelly are both out on loan, while defender Mike Whitlow (knee) has been in action for the reserves as he targets a return to the first-team squad.
City boss Kevin Keegan is facing a defensive crisis ahead. Wing-back Niclas Jensen is suspended, likely stand-in Danny Tiatto has been ruled out for the season with a stomach injury and Keegan has also lost another possible option in Sun Jihai, who has also picked up a knock. Steve Howey (Achilles) is also out, leaving Keegan to either bring in Richard Dunne or change his defensive system. Marc-Vivien Foe is also a doubt as his wife is due to give birth, although their is some good news for the City boss, with Eyal Berkovic set to return after his recent operation to rectify a groin problem.
