-Vaikka Corretja ei alkukaudella olekaan häikäissyt, ei hänellä tule olemaan kovin suuria vaikeuksia nuoren Venäläisen kanssa.. Alex on pelannut alkukaudesta vain kaksi ottelua, mutta aloittaa todellisen kiertämisen vasta nyt amerikan mantereelta. Ja varmasti voitonnälkä on kova..

-En tiedä kaipaako seuraava peli suurempia perusteluja.. Kova alusta & Verkerk on aina kova yhdistelmä.. Verkerk parempi kovilla, Mello massalla...

-Martin on kovasti aliarvioitu pelaaja.. Hyvänä päivänään Martin saattaa voittaa kenet tahansa, eikä Vahaly ei mielestäni ole mikään huippu, joten Martinia lapulle.. tämän vuoden won/lost -tilasto: Martin 4/6 ja Vahaly 5/5..

-Attila Savolt on aina tuonut minulle hyviä voittoja.. Tänäänkin miestä yliarvioidaan jokseenkin rankasti. Itse asettaisin Meligenin suuremmaksi suosikiksi.. mutta käyhän se näinkin.. Meligeni johtaa H2H -tilastoa 2-0, ja tänään tulee kolmas voitto.. kerroin 1,85 on ihan hyvä..


Anteeksi taas hieman epämääräiset perustelut, mutta ajatus ei nyt oikein kierrä normaalitasolla.. ehkäpä tämä tästä...

"Tursnov is a promising type who has spent a lot of time playing in these parts. He is a very heavy hitter with a big serve. He is match fit after coming through qualifying in a tough third round match with Scott Draper. Corretja is playing only his third match for the year and has come up a very short price to notch up his first win of the season."

PROFILE: Dmitry Tursunov

It's been a month Russian teenager Dmitry Tursunov will never forget, and
when the Kroger St. Jude is over, he jokingly says he'll "celebrate with a
couple of bottles of vodka."
Playing in the first ATP tournament of his career, the 18-year-old from
Moscow has captured the imagination of everyone at the Racquet Club of
Memphis with his remarkable story.
Having won 15 consecutive matches coming into his first main draw -
consisting of titles at the Holland Hills Futures and Dallas Challenger
events, and three qualifying matches in Memphis - Tursunov knocked out
fellow qualifier Kevin Kim in the first round before claiming the biggest
scalp of his career with a hard-fought three-set victory over seventh seed
Greg Rusedski.
Tursunov only arrived in Memphis after tournament director Tommy Buford told
him to come down to practice, but couldn't give him a wild card because they
had all been allocated. But as players withdrew, Tursunov earned the last
position into the qualifying competition. The rest is history as they say.
While not many knew of the youngster last week, Tursunov is the new kid on
the block. Standing at 6'2" with his cap turned backwards, the teenager is
equipped with a serve consistently in the 120-130mph range and a baseline
game that could rank among the best of them.
And with his long curly hair, he could easily be mistaken for a surfer on
the beaches of California, where he moved as a 12-year-old boy to get away
from the pressures his father Igor was placing on his shoulders.
"My father's a tennis freak," says Tursunov. "He pushed my brother so hard
to play, that my brother eventually stopped and didn't want to play anymore.
That's when he switched his attention to me."
The pressures almost turned the younger sibling away from the game too, as
Dmitry left Moscow for a new home in California, leaving his father, mother
and brother behind.
"When I came to California, I wasn't really going to play tennis,," says
Tursinov. But when he arrived there, he met Russian coach Vitaly Gorin, whom
he has remained under the tutelage for the last six years, diving in and out
of schools while learning the game through Gorin's various tennis academies.

"My coach has been unbelievable," says Tursunov. "He has always been very
supportive towards me"
Now settled into a new place in Sacramento with Gorin, Tursunov has shown
full signs of recovery from a fractured left leg in 2000 to become a real
force on the ATP circuit and one to watch in the future.
