Italy is a great waterpolo nation but not on the top lately, on european championship (6.-15. June 2003 in Slovenia) they finished 9th! But they are sure stronger than that... But not so strong to beat -3,5 goals handicap vs. Australia. Australians are a surprise on this tournament, they played good, were a little bit unlucky (6-7 lost vs. SM) but they charged all in 1/8 final match vs. Croatia, european championship finalist Croatia, one of the strongest teams on this tournament and gold medal favourites, were really trashed by the Australians! The Croats didnt have a minumum chance to win! The game ended 10-6 and even if Italy is the better team, Australia is tough opponent and it will be really difficult for Italy to beat the -3,5 goals handicap. Well, if Australia plays like vs. Croatia, Italy will have great difficulties to win at all!
