1. Liverpool - Bolton 1X

Liverpool will come out to a heroes reception at Anfield when they take on Bolton following their triumph in Cardiff. The victory against the old enemy at the Millennium Stadium will undoubtedly be a massive boost to morale, but if they are to reach the 'holy grail' of the Champions League they will need to improve on their Barclaycard Premiership form immediately.

Phil Thompson has moved quickly to bring the Liverpool players back down to earth following the weekend by insisting: "We now have to push on from here."

Thompson admitted the players enjoyed their post-match celebrations in Cardiff on Sunday, but now he says the time has come for the Reds to make up lost ground in the Premiership - starting against Bolton this weekend.

"We are not going to say for one minute that everything in the garden is rosy," said the assistant manager.

"We know we have got to push on from here, but I'm pleased for the players and particularly for the boss.

"But that's it now because the most important game is at the weekend against Bolton. The Worthington Cup is in the background now and we have to push on.

"The victory does, of course, help confidence but we now have to focus and prepare for Bolton. That has its own significance."

With regards to Liverpool's team for Saturday's clash it has been confirmed that defender Stephane Henchoz requires a minor operation on his left calf which is expected to sideline him for between four and six weeks.

Meanwhile Emile Heskey will also be unavailable for two weeks after straining a hamstring in Sunday's victory against Manchester United.

Djimi Traore is likely to replace Henchoz at the heart of the defence and partner Sami Hyypia this weekend, while Milan Baros could return to the starting line-up in place of Heskey.

A win would take the Reds within three points of local rivals Everton and a Champions League spot while a victory for the Trotters would take them three points clear of the relegation zone.

Big Sam is confident his side can still survive but knows they could be in a much healthier position had they not conceding last minute equalisers in their last two games. The manner off defeat will inevitably have hurt the players and staff but midfielder Ricardo Gardner knows there is no time to think about 'what might have been' and is keen to move on.

Gardner is looking to bounce back quickly from his mistake in the recent draw with Manchester United. The Jamaica international's misplaced pass set up United for a last-gasp equaliser at the Reebok Stadium and Gardner aims to make amends against Liverpool.

"I've got to learn from it, put it behind me and focus on Liverpool. I am able to put things like that behind me and get on with my game.

"I have been happy with my form so far this season but I still want to do better. We desperately need three points and we must give 110 per cent for the club and our fans.

"We are keeping positive from the United game because the lads did brilliantly," he said. "If we go to Liverpool in the same frame of mind we can win."

The Trotters can take heart from the performance earlier in the season when they were unlucky to lose to a Liverpool side that was flying high and unbeaten in the Barclaycard Premiership at the time. Milan Baros scored two goals in a tense and exciting 3-2 win with an impossibly frantic denouement at the Reebok Stadium - three goals in the last four minutes.

Even the most devote Liverpool fan will admit the side have struggled to rediscover their early season form and Big Sam will hope a repeat performance from his players will be enough to steal all three points at Anfield.

2. Ipswich - Stoke 1X

Ipswich are hoping for a double tonic ahead of the game against relegation-threatened Stoke at Portman Road.
Striker Marcus Bent may be included after overcoming a slight hamstring strain picked up last week, while defender John McGreal is back in training after a back problem.

Richard Naylor may have earned himself a starting spot up front after his late equaliser at Wolves in midweek, even though manager Joe Royle sees his future as a defender.

Winger Martijn Reuser could also make the starting 11 after creating Naylor's leveller, while defender Hermann Hreidarsson returns from suspension.

Mark Crossley will go straight into the Stoke squad to face Ipswich after signing on loan from Middlesbrough.

Crossley has already had one loan spell at the Britannia Stadium this season and has returned for another month.

But the Potters could be without defender Wayne Thomas for the trip to Portman Road.

Thomas had to be replaced at half-time in the 1-0 win over Brighton on Wednesday after sustaining a calf injury, but will be given until the last minute to prove his fitness.

If he cannot play, Frazer Richardson - who replaced Thomas from the substitutes' bench - will deputise at right-back.

Clive Clarke may return to the squad for the first time since November following his recovery from a knee ligament injury but Kristian Commons (knee) remains on the sidelines.

3. Leicester - Sheffield W 1X

Leicester boss Micky Adams has his fingers crossed that midfielder Billy McKinlay will be able to overcome his injury woes in time to face Sheffield Wednesday.
McKinlay has been nursing a severely bruised foot and Adams reckons the Scotsman has a 50-50 chance of making the squad.

Callum Davidson's groin injury means he remains on the casualty list, but Frank Sinclair is back to bolster the Foxes after missing the 0-0 draw at Bradford City through suspension.

Midfielder Matt Jones, who has featured for the reserves after recovering from a hamstring problem, is also expected to be named in the squad.

Sheffield Wednesday are likely to be unchanged from the shock 5-1 thumping of Coventry in midweek as they head to second-placed Leicester.

Chris Turner's relegation-threatened Owls sustained no major new injuries against Coventry and there are no suspensions for the journey to the Walkers Stadium.

Defender David Burrows played and scored in this week's 3-2 reserve team win away to Sunderland, but the former Liverpool man is yet to return to the first team after a torn hamstring.

4. Brighton - Rotherham X2

Brighton manager Steve Coppell selects from an unchanged squad against Rotherham as the Seagulls look to bounce back from two successive defeats.
Forward Gary Hart is again unavailable as he serves the last game of a four-match suspension.

Coppell must decide whether to continue with on-loan Tony Rougier as Bobby Zamora's strike partner or recall Graham Barrett.

Barrett, on loan from Arsenal, has scored only once for the Seagulls and that was in Coppell's first match in charge, five months ago.

Brighton's two defeats have sent them back into the bottom three and Coppell is looking for his side to be a lot more creative against Rotherham.

He said: "We didn't sparkle up front against Stoke and there wasn't a lot of support from midfield. Now we have to pull ourselves together for what is another very difficult game."

Rotherham could go into the game without the services of defenders Martin McIntosh and Marvin Bryan.

McIntosh sustained an ankle injury in the goalless draw with Walsall on Tuesday, while Bryan battled through the same game with a calf problem.

Manager Ronnie Moore will give the pair until the last minute to prove their fitness, with Bryan more of a doubt than McIntosh.

If he does not make it, Moore confirmed he will hand youngster Shaun Barker his first-team debut.

Andy Monkhouse is still on the sidelines with a knee ligament injury and will be out of action for "anything between two weeks and two months", according to Moore.

5. Coventry - Wimbledon 1

Coventry boss Gary McAllister rates goalkeeper Morten Hyldgaard doubtful ahead of the game against Wimbledon.
The Danish shot-stopper sustained an ankle injury in training late last week and missed the win over Grimsby and the 5-1 midweek reverse at Sheffield Wednesday, when Fabien Debec deputised.

David Pipe is struggling with a badly bruised foot while Jay Bothroyd has been unable to shake off an ankle knock sustained in a reserve-team fixture last month.

Keith O'Neill and Dean Gordon are ruled out by hamstring problems, while Juan Sara's groin injury and Youssef Safri's rehabilitation following a hernia operation mean they are also out of contention.

Wimbledon striker David Connolly is back in training following a hamstring injury, but boss Stuart Murdoch is unlikely to rush him back.

Winger Jobi McAnuff is back after a groin injury, but Gareth Ainsworth should keep his place after scoring the winner against Portsmouth.

Loan signing Moritz Volz will play his last match before his loan spell from Arsenal comes to an end.

The Dons are back in the Division One play-off race after back-to-back victories over Portsmouth and Reading.

6. Preston - Derby X2

Preston manager Craig Brown is hopeful that Wales international defender Rob Edwards will be fit to face Derby County at Deepdale.
Edwards is nursing a shoulder injury and is set for a painkilling jab, while Brown is also waiting on several other first-teamers.

Paul McKenna is struggling to overcome a dead leg, while Marlon Broomes and Eric Skora are also doubtful starters.

Derby midfield maestro Giorgi Kinkladze faces a late fitness test to determine if he can play.

Kinkladze limped out of the Pride Park draw with Leicester City nursing a back injury and failed to recover in time for the midweek loss to Crystal Palace.

Lee Morris, a late withdrawal from the the Palace match after suffering a hamstring strain in the warm-up, is suspended, but Warren Barton has completed his ban and has recovered from tonsillitis.

Second-choice goalkeeper Andy Oakes is progressing well after suffering a knee injury in training, though England Under-19 goalkeeper Lee Camp is expected to keep his place on the bench.

7. Walsall - Millwall X2

Walsall boss Colin Lee is confident walking wounded Jorge Leitao and Martin O'Connor will be available for the home game against Millwall.
The Saddlers are expected to include both players in the squad, despite Leitao picking up a head injury and O'Connor an ankle problem in the midweek draw at Rotherham.

Portuguese striker Leitao, who has scored 11 goals this season, was replaced early in the first half at Millmoor, while captain O'Connor was substituted with 10 minutes of the second half gone.

If selected, defender Ian Roper will play his last game before beginning a two-match suspension.

Millwall right-back Alan Dunne misses the trip to Walsall after breaking his wrist during the 1-1 draw against Burnley on Tuesday.

His injury leaves Millwall short of cover in the position, with first-choice Matt Lawrence still sidelined by a foot injury.

Defenders Ronnie Bull or Mark Phillips could fill in, but midfielders Steven Reid and Andy Roberts are also being considered.

The Lions are still missing Tim Cahill and Joe Dolan to long-term injuries, while skipper Stuart Nethercott has yet to recover from a groin problem.

Richard Sadlier's equaliser against Burnley snapped a four-match losing streak and he could start his first match of the season after returning from a long-term hip injury.

8. Queens PR - Bristol C 1

QPR will give a fitness test to Matthew Rose ahead of the game at Loftus Road.
Rose is back in training following a knee injury and is likely to be added to the squad.

Left-back Gino Padula is suspended, so Tommy Williams is in contention for a place in the starting line-up.

Goalkeeper Chris Day will make his first home appearance since October 2001, when he suffered a double leg fracture in a match against Oldham.

Day returned to the side for the midweek victory at Huddersfield, replacing the sidelined Nick Culkin.

Danny Wilson should be able to field an unchanged team for Bristol City's trip to Loftus Road.

Skipper Tommy Doherty is under treatment for a minor calf problem, but is expected to be available.

Wilson's only dilemma is whether to recall experienced playmaker Brian Tinnion or stick with Aaron Brown on the left side of midfield.

Tinnion was on the bench for Tuesday night's 2-0 home win over Oldham, partly because he had only just recovered from a hamstring injury.

Brown did well as Tinnion's replacement in that game and the previous victory over Cheltenham Town, so he may well keep his place.

9. Tranmere - Crewe 2

Tranmere Rovers manager Ray Mathias will be tempted to name an unchanged side for the visit of promotion-chasing Crewe Alexandra.
Rovers grabbed a fine 0-0 draw at leaders Wigan on Tuesday, and Mathias was pleased to welcome back Shane Nicholson from a hamstring injury for the final 22 minutes.

Russell Howarth also returned from a bout of tonsillitis, although he was an unused substitute.

Striker Stuart Barlow's groin injury did not allow him to face his former club, but he could be ready against Crewe.

Crewe boss Dario Gradi will be without striker Steve Jones against Tranmere after he suffered a suspected fractured cheekbone during Tuesday's 4-2 victory over Wycombe.

The 26-year-old also suffered a gash close to his eye when he took an accidental kick to the head from Wanderers defender Danny Senda and crashed into the advertising hoardings.

Defender David Wright could be out for a month after aggravating his troublesome groin injury in the same match, so Chris McCready and Efe Sodje will be vying for the right-back role.

Alex skipper Dave Brammer could return in midfield as he continues his recovery from a groin injury.

10. Oldham - Colchester 1

Defender Dean Holden returns to the Oldham squad for the first time since October for the home game with Colchester.
The former Bolton trainee will be a welcome addition to Iain Dowie's side after returning from a thigh injury.

Striker John Eyre also returns to contention after missing the last three matches with a calf problem.

There is also a surprise inclusion for young defender Marc Tierney, who receives his first-ever call-up to the first-team squad after impressive displays for the youth and reserve sides.

Midfielder Matty Appleby is likely to be named in the side after missing the midweek defeat by Bristol City with a thigh injury.

Colchester United manager Phil Parkinson has been dealt a blow with the news that Liam Chilvers will probably miss the rest of the season with knee ligament damage.

Adrian Coote will also miss the game at Boundary Park after damaging a leg in training, although early fears that he had broken it have proved unfounded.

Joe Dunne, Gavin Johnson, Mark Warren and Kevin Rapley remain long-term absentees.

11. Port Vale - Blackpool 1X

Port Vale manager Brian Horton has no fresh injury problems as he prepares his side for the home game with Blackpool.
Horton will pick from the same set of players edged out 1-0 at Notts County on Tuesday, after defender Michael Walsh suffered no reaction in his first game back since a knee injury.

Vale, who have claimed just five points from their last nine matches, are desperate for three points after slipping into the drop zone with the loss at Meadow Lane.

Blackpool manager Steve McMahon will be without midfielder Paul Evans for the trip to Vale Park.

Evans, who is on loan from Bradford, was stretchered off during the midweek game against Barnsley with a knee injury and is to undergo a scan to establish the extent of the damage.

McMahon will wait until the last minute before deciding whether to include John Hills as he is suffering from an abscess in his mouth.

Defender Tommy Jaszczun, who was on the bench for last weekend's win over Wycombe, is rated doubtful after sustaining an ankle injury during a midweek reserves game.

Richie Wellens plays his last game before a one-match suspension.

12. Wycombe - Brentford 1

Manager Lawrie Sanchez will name an unchanged line-up for Wycombe's match with Brentford at Adams Park.
The Chairboys have lost their last three matches, but Sanchez has little scope for a shake-up with several players still injured.

Goalkeeper Martin Taylor returned to action from a calf injury in the reserves this week, but Frank Talia will keep his place.

Striker Andy Rammell is back in training after a calf injury but will not feature, while Chris Vinnicombe has yet to play this year following a groin problem.

Stuart Roberts is nursing an ankle injury and is not expected to make a first-team comeback until later this month.

Brentford boss Wally Downes still has an under-strength squad as his side look to complete a league double over Wycombe.

Stephen Evans (Achilles), Stephen Hunt and Leo Roget (both ankle) are all out, while Jamie Fullarton has yet to return to training following a leg injury.

Downes is hoping Brentford rediscover the goalscoring touch. They have scored just four goals in their last eight matches and go into the game on the back of consecutive defeats by Cardiff and Tranmere.

13. Luton - Huddersfield 2

Luton Town boss Joe Kinnear is suffering with several injury problems ahead of the Huddersfield match.
Dean Crowe is out for the season with a broken leg, while striker Steve Howard has still not recovered from a swollen knee and is ruled out.

Keeper Lars Hirschfeld has gastro-enteritis and will stay away from the squad to avoid passing it on.

However, Kinnear has failed with loan bids for Arsenal duo Jermaine Pennant and Jeremie Aliadiere this week.

Huddersfield skipper Eddie Youds will miss the trip to Kenilworth Road after breaking down in the warm-up before the midweek game against QPR.

Youds pulled out after suffering with Achilles problems in both feet, but he is expected to be fit for the following weekend.

Martin Smith has a slight hamstring problem and has not trained ahead of the game, but is expected to be in the squad.

Simon Baldry took a knock against QPR and has also missed training, but he too is expected to be fit.

Chris Holland came through a midweek reserve game following a hernia problem and could be set for a recall to the first-team squad.
