£ 1 /2M BETTING PROBE: RAITH BOSSES SUMMONED League to question directors EXCLUSIVE

FOOTBALL league bosses have ordered Raith Rovers directors to appear before a meeting after a probe into a £500,000 betting scam.

Chairman Turnbull Hutton and former chairman Willie Gray will be briefed on the investigation and asked for their comments.

Scottish Football League bosses have ruled there is a case to answer, though there is no suggestion Hutton or Gray are involved.

The investigation into unusual betting patterns on a Raith match last season uncovered a series of 'serious issues and concerns'.

Hutton and Gray received letters last week asking them to appear.

The probe centred on Raith'sScandal: Our story on May 23 match against Ayr United in May - ex-manager Antonio Calderon's last in charge of the Kirkcaldy club.

Bookmakers reported £250,000 was staked around Europe on a home win for Ayr. Ayr won 1-0 with a 40th minute goal and bookies paid out around £500,000.

League secretary Peter Donald said the investigation was 'not yet at an end'.

He added: 'All we are trying to do is find out more information from individuals at the club.'

But insiders say League bosses have demanded senior representatives of the club attend.

A source said: 'It's scandalous stuff. The club could be heavily fined or have points deducted.

'Hutton has denied there was any truth to the claims but he's about to be shown hard evidence.'

Last night, Hutton confirmed they had been called to a meeting.

He said: 'It is some time in October. There is nothing sinister or mysterious about this.

'What we have done is furnish the league with what information we have. They have returned with information and we responded. The meeting is the next stage.'

Hutton also said there would be a board meeting to consider the future management of the club.

It comes after fans complained about results and team boss Claude Anelka's player selection.

Onhan se hyvin todennäköistä, että valmentaja peluuttaa nuoria junnuja tuossa tilanteessa, kun ei tuloksella ole mitään merkitystä. Nähtävästi bookkerit ovat tarjonneet Ayreille kerrointa 2.00, ja saavat kyllä syyttää itseään tappiosta.
