Preview: Walsall v Ipswich

Walsall's new signing Craig Burley will go straight into the squad to face Ipswich at the Bescot Stadium.

Paul Merson is also pushing for a place in the starting line-up after coming off the bench in Saturday's 1-0 win over Wimbledon.

However, Australian midfielder Steve Corica is struggling to make the match because of a hamstring injury while Darren Wrack is sidelined with an Achilles problem.

Ipswich, already without seven first-team players, could also be missing goalkeeper Kelvin Davis and Richard Naylor.

Davis was confined to bed on Monday with a stomach bug while Naylor fractured a toe against Millwall on Saturday.

A decision will be made on Tuesday whether the injury can be strapped so that he can play.

On the plus side, defender Matt Elliott is set to make his debut after joining on a one-month loan from Leicester City.

Preview: Cardiff v Reading

A hamstring strain sustained in the 2-1 home victory over Norwich City has forced Cardiff City winger Paul Parry out of the match against Reading at Ninian Park.

The Wales star misses his first game since joining from Hereford and his replacement against the Canaries, Jamaican international Richard Langley, will start for the Bluebirds.

Gary Croft has reported slight soreness to his shoulder which he re-set himself after dislocating it in the second half against Norwich, but the former Ipswich star should be fit to play.

Langley's place on the bench could go to Lee Bullock while Cardiff are unable to call on James Collins and skipper Graham Kavanagh, who has been ruled out for the season with an ankle problem.

Reading manager Steve Coppell has recalled goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown from Rushden & Diamonds in time for the trip to Cardiff.

Marcus Hahnemann limped out of Saturday's goalless draw with Stoke suffering from a strain to his medial ligament and is unlikely to recover in time.

Lloyd Owusu starts a three-match ban and is expected to be replaced by Dave Kitson.

Nicky Forster has begun his recovery from a stomach injury but will not be fit for around a month.

Preview: Tranmere v Millwall

Tranmere's Sean Connelly and Ian Goodison are set to return to the team for the FA Cup quarter-final replay against Millwall.

Connelly (thigh) and Goodison (ankle) both missed the home defeat by Chesterfield at the weekend because of injury.

Iain Hume is likely to partner Eugene Dadi up front as Tranmere aim to reach the semi-finals for the first time in their history.

Mark McCammon has been ruled out for Millwall with concussion.

The striker was carried off on a stretcher during the 3-1 win at Ipswich and has been ordered to rest for seven days.

Neil Harris is favourite to replace him in the starting line-up after hitting two goals from the bench.

Player-manager Dennis Wise is likely to recall himself after a knee injury which required seven stitches.

Darren Ward has been playing despite painkilling injections in his knee but is set to continue.

Preview: West Brom v Wigan

West Brom boss Gary Megson has no fresh injury concerns or suspensions for the visit of Wigan.

Ronnie Wallwork has recovered from the foot problem which kept him out of the 2-1 victory over Crewe at the weekend and is expected to take his place in the squad.

Larus Sigurdsson is the only absentee for the Baggies as the Icelander prepares to undergo surgery on a cruciate ligament injury.

Wigan boss Paul Jewell will wait until the last minute before picking his squad in order to give Alan Mahon a chance to recover from a hamstring injury.

Otherwise, Jewell is unlikely to make any changes to the side with Jason Roberts (suspension), Gary Teale (broken collarbone) and Steve McMillan (groin) all still sidelined

Preview: Watford v Derby

Watford aim to end a run of three straight defeats with a win against Derby but manager Ray Lewington has little scope for changes with his squad still depleted by injuries.

Marcus Gayle and Neil Cox (both hamstring) miss out, along with Jack Smith and Hameur Bouazza (both ankle).

Lee Cook and Danny Webber could come into contention for a return to the starting line-up after coming on as substitutes in the 2-0 defeat at home to Sheffield United on Saturday.

Derby's Michael Johnson is ruled out after he was forced out of the 1-0 win over Rotherham on Saturday with back spasms and will now undergo further tests to assess the extent of the problem.

And with Rob Edwards also a major doubt because of bronchitis, Rams boss George Burley has been forced to recall Dave Walton from his loan spell at Stockport.

Meanwhile, Manel is serving the second of a three-match suspension and will also miss the trip.

Preview: Rotherham v Sheff Utd

Jody Morris must wait before making his Rotherham debut and misses the home game against Sheffield United because of a knee injury.

However, Morris is expected to be available for selection against Gillingham at the weekend.

Manager Ronnie Moore welcomes back Andy Monkhouse for the Blades clash after missing Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Derby through suspension.

Chris Sedgwick (ankle) and Shaun Barker (foot) were also absent from the Derby game and will be given until the last minute to prove their fitness.

United boss Neil Warnock is without Nick Montgomery and Mike Whitlow, who are both forced to serve one-match bans.

Warnock's only injury concern is Robert Page who suffered a knock to his Achilles during Saturday's 2-0 victory against Watford and is rated doubtful.

Preview: Norwich v Gillingham

Norwich manager Nigel Worthington has no new injury concerns for the home game with Gillingham, although he may opt to make changes after the shock defeat at Cardiff.

Leon McKenzie is pushing for a start after netting against the Bluebirds as a substitute while Phil Mulryne also impressed after coming off the bench.

Mark Rivers has returned to training after a long-term thigh injury but is unlikely to feature due to a lack of match practice.

Gillingham player-manager Andy Hessenthaler is set to name an unchanged squad.

John Hills (Achilles), Chris Hope (ankle), Jason Brown and Kevin James (both groin) are all still unavailable while Hessenthaler himself remains sidelined through suspension.

The only possible development could be the return of Rod Wallace who may be ready to rejoin the squad following compassionate leave.
------------
Preview: Chesterfield v Brighton

Roy McFarland has no new injury or suspension concerns as Chesterfield prepare for the home game against Brighton.

The Spireites came through the win at Tranmere on Saturday unscathed, with McFarland likely to name the same side that started against Brian Little's men.

Brighton boss Mark McGhee adds Stoke striker Chris Iwelumo to his side ahead of the trip to Saltergate.

The striker will sign on loan initially before signing for the Seagulls until the end of the season later this week.

John Piercy will be in contention again after suffering no recurrence of his ankle injury in the 1-1 draw at Port Vale.

Defender Paul Watson is the only definite absentee as he recovers from a groin operation.

Preview: Rushden v Notts County

Billy Turley is set to return to the Rushden & Diamonds goal against Notts County after Jamie Ashdown was recalled by Reading.

Turley has been sidelined with a knee injury which has kept him out of the side since the clash with Blackpool in October, with Ashdown providing cover.

But an injury to Reading keeper Marcus Hahnemann has caused Ashdown`s return, leaving the door open for Turley to step back into the frame.

Onandi Lowe may return in attack, while Andy Edwards should continue in place of Paul Hall.

Notts County goalkeeper Steven Mildenhall is still recovering from a thumb operation, while Stuart Garden is struggling with a rib injury.

On-loan Pegguy Arphexad is set to continue between the posts for the Magpies despite gifting opponents Wycombe an equaliser in his debut on Saturday.

Preview: Colchester v Wycombe

Colchester will be without goalkeeper Richard McKinney for the visit of Wycombe to Layer Road.

Simon Brown will come in for McKinney, who is expected to be out for three to four weeks after injuring his ankle in the 0-0 draw at Oldham.

As things stand it will be the last game of Wayne Brown's loan spell but Us boss Phil Parkinson is trying to extend the deal for a further month.

Wycombe boss Tony Adams may welcome back Steve Brown to the fray after serving a one-match ban.

The Chairboys midfielder missed the 1-1 draw with Notts County after receiving a fifth booking of the season.

Mark Rogers (hamstring), Keith Ryan (ankle), Scott Marshall (hamstring) and Andy Thomson (knee) are all still sidelined.

Preview: Port Vale v Luton

Port Vale boss Martin Foyle has only one fresh injury worry ahead of the visit of Luton.

Adrian Littlejohn remains doubtful for the clash after sustaining an ankle injury in the 1-1 draw with Brighton.

Foyle was handed a boost on Saturday by the return of Ian Armstrong, who is in contention for a place in the squad after coming on for Littlejohn.

Matthew Spring will visit a specialist this week on the groin injury which rules him out for Luton.

But Alan Neilson is back in contention after recovering from a debilitating illness.

Adrian Forbes (knee) and Kevin Foley (leg) are back in training and aiming to make comebacks this month, but Russell Perrett is still absent with a groin injury.

Preview: QPR v Wrexham

QPR manager Ian Holloway is set to keep faith with a winning team for the clash with Wrexham.

Paul Furlong keeps his place up front after hitting a brace in the 4-1 victory at Hartlepool while loan signing Lee Camp starts in goal with Chris Day (shin), Nick Culkin (knee) and Jake Cole (elbow) all injured.

Matthew Rose continues to deputise for Gino Padula, out for six weeks with a fractured toe, while Gareth Ainsworth (foot) and Richard Edghill (knee) remain sidelined.

Michael Ingham will go straight into the Wrexham team after signing on a month's loan from Sunderland.

He replaces Andy Dibble, who will miss the rest of the season with a broken arm sustained during Saturday's 6-1 defeat at Peterborough.

Smith will also be boosted by the return of Brian Carey and Steve Roberts from suspension.

Preview: Hartlepool v Stockport

Hartlepool manager Neale Cooper has no fresh injuries to report ahead of the home clash with Stockport.

Paul Robinson is pushing for a starting place after appearing as a substitute in Saturday's defeat against QPR following a hamstring injury.

And Neil Danns is in line to make his second appearance since signing on a month's loan from Blackburn.

Stockport manager Sammy McIlroy has been forced into making two changes to his starting line-up.

On-loan Dave Walton has been recalled by Derby due to injury concerns, so either Rob Clare or Jim Goodwin will be moved to centre-half.

McIlroy is also without Anthony Williams as the goalkeeper is on loan from Hartlepool and they have refused him permission to play.

Youngster James Spencer will deputise.

Preview: Plymouth v Peterborough

Plymouth will be boosted by the return from suspension of Hasney Aljofree ahead of their home game against Peterborough.

Aljofree missed the 2-1 win over Swindon due to a one-match ban and was replaced by Paul Wotton.

Tony Capaldi was also recalled in place of Ian Stonebridge.

Peterborough boss Barry Fry has no fresh injury concerns.

Calum Willock and Clive Platt will both be in contention after suffering no reaction to their hamstring injuries in the 6-1 win against Wrexham.

Gareth Jelleyman remains around two to three weeks away from a return to action as he continues to nurse an ankle injury.

Preview: Blackpool v Brentford

Blackpool boss Steve McMahon is sweating on the fitness of several key players ahead of match against Brentford.

Scott Taylor and John Murphy are struggling with foot and back injuries respectively.

Kirk Hilton is having treatment on a hamstring problem.

Garry Thompson will be forced to make at least one change for Brentford in his first game in charge.

Thompson has been appointed caretaker manager after Wally Downes was sacked at the weekend.

But he will have to recall Alan Julian in goal, with Stuart Nelson starting a ban.

Thompson has added Jay Smith and Matt Harrold to the squad, but he is also hoping to make a new signing in time for the clash.

Preview: Oldham v Barnsley

New Oldham boss Brian Talbot is able to welcome back Ernie Cooksey from a one-match ban for the clash with Barnsley.

Otherwise, Talbot is unlikely to make too many changes to his side, with Will Haining (ankle), Danny Hall (knee) and Dave Beharall (rib) the only absentees.

Barnsley manager Paul Hart is still sweating on the fitness of a host of players.

Dean Gorre (knee), Tony Gallimore (knee), Lee Crooks (thigh) and Brian O'Callaghan (ankle) are all undergoing treatment.

However, Hart is able to welcome back Craig Ireland and Mark Stallard from suspension.(Ananova)
